The end-of-season combined Hut andPeton,e Swimming Club's carni val at Riddiford Baths provided tlx large crowd present with a pro gramme of thrilling finishes. C. BlabeJey (Lyall Bay), to earn a popular win by two yards. | The Fen wick Memorial Relay was won lor the seventh time out ot' nine contests by the Hutt Club. The 220 Wellington Centre intermediate boys championship was won by A. Duncan, Wellington club, and the 100 yards Centre intermediate boys' htreaststroke was worf by D. Wilkins of Petone. In a keen finish Duncan hung on long enough to beat the fast-finishing Pollett by a touch, ■with McEwen a foot away. 100 yards Wellington Centre Intermediate Boys' Breaststroke Cham pionship: D. Wilkins (Petone) 1, E. Hughe's (Wellington) 2; N. Wood (Hutt) 3. Time 1.31. Wilkins led all the way to win by four yards. 880 yards Wellington Centre Freestyle Championship: D. O'Neill (Lyall Bay), 1; C. Jones (Worser Bay) 2; J. C. Blakeley (Lyall Bay) 3. Time 12.13. For three-quarters of the journey Jones and Blakeley were the pace-makers together, with O'Neil swimming well in third place'. With six laps to go O'Neil surprised all by forging ahead and, displaying great stamina, jpXf a last lap challenge by Joiypj? t"he holder, and went on to win wo* yards. It was a popular win. Fenwick Memorial Shield Relay, between Hujtt •-rttjjwJ Petone Clubs: Hutt 1, Petone 2. Excitement reigned unti'l Hutt gained a commanding lead in the sixth lap, eventually winning by eight.
