TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD

\YY IWIIIST U J UIA NCM The: monthly meeting of the above was held in St. Paul's liall 011 Wednesday, September 22. There was a good attendance of members and visitors, presided over by Mrs. Woodrow. The afternoon opened with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the Guild song. Reports were received from delegates to the Dominion Council Meeting and the School for Officers. The singing circle entertained with two songs and the drama circle gave a 10-minijte sketch. The Soldiers Comforts circle report good progress. Members are. reminded of parcel packing on Ist Wednesday; roses will also be made that day. October is the month the Xmas parcels are dispatched so a good attendance is requested for this purpose. The marmalade competition was won by Mrs. Cooper and the best flower resulted —Mrs. Watters first, Mrs. McKillop second. The guest speaker was Dr. Douglas who gave an outline of the work of the School Medical Service. Mrs. Woodrow, on behalf of the Guild ladies, thanked Dr. Douglas and presented her with a spray. The speaker for next month is Mrs. Strong who will talk on "Travel in Wartime Britain." The meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the New Zealand National Anthem.
