ENTHUSIASTIC MEETINGS

HUTT AND PETONE SUPPORT

John Ilogan has continued addressing meetings night and day in all parts of the doctorate, and has been greeted by large crowds at all times, even with exceptionally short notice. Votes of thanks and confidence have been carried with enthusiasm on each occasion. Open air meetings at Lower Hutt and Petone last Friday night, despite unfavourable weather, attracted several hundred people and at Petone the crowd stayed till nearly 10 p.m. and concluded the meeting with cheers for the candidate and the singing of "For he's a jolly good fellow." An opposition meeting with loud speakers across the road was quickly abandoned when Mr. Hogan started to speak, and after attempting to interfere with his meeting finally faded out of the picture.
