LOWER HUTT BRANCH

-4§L well, attended gathering of mewtjers and friends and representatives from sister guilds celebrated the, Sixth . Birthday Party of the abovfe Guild which was held in the U.S.A. Rooms. The chairwoman, 'Mrs. E. Webster, extended a warm "welcome to, all, and whilst regretting the • unavoidable absence of the speaker, "Aunt Daisy," hoped all would have an enjoyable afternoon.

A loyal member, Mrs. A. W. H. Turner, who is leaving the district, "was presented with a shoulder spray with the good wishes of the guild.

Included in the entertainment were songs by Miss Enid Wood and

'Mrs. R. Coakley, elocutionary items tjiy" Mr. J. .Shearer, which created much, merriment, and pianoforte duets Mesdames Gandell and E. all artists being presented \vith, a token of appreciation.

,A dainty afternoon tea was served, and an opportunity afforded to ■meet old friends.

. The competition was won by Mrs. Carroll, and the points flower prize awarded to Mrs. Hammington with Mrs. Judd second. WArWHETU BRANCH The monthly meeting of the WaiWhetu Branch was held in St. Paul's Hall when Mrs Woodrow, vice president, welcomed members, visitors, and new members. Although, many "boys" have returned from overseas, the Soldiers' Comfort Circle is still "on active Service," and, will have a White Eiephant Stall to augment the funds for another batch of parcels. The Drama Circle is very much alive and each meeting entertain. Mrs. McCracken (Lady Gay of 2ZB) was the guest speaker and gave a most interesting dissertation. Mrs. Woodrow on behalf of the ni' ( M (.hanked Gay and as a token of app: •M iafion presented her with half a dozen I'rosli nggs. The best Rower was won by Mrs Walter,'? with Mrs IM'ton second. An amusing "Soil" uotition was 'won by Lady Gay. The gue.«t speaker for" next month ■will be Sister Walrtie. lately returned from overseas. She will relate tot few of her experiences abroad.
