MEN'S INDOOR BASKETBALL
' The Y.M.C.A. has planned and "organised a competition for teams of men from the various sports clubs hnd factories of the Hutt Valley, to ineet in competition in the Y.M.C.A Gymnasium, Cuba Street, each Wednesday night at 7 o'clock.
This competition has been named the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A. Men's Indoor Basketball Association, and last Wednesday night saw the comhiencement of the competition.
Owing to unavoidable absence through Ministerial duties, the Hon W. E. Parry was unable to be present to officially open the tournament, and the season was declared open by the General Secretary, Mr G. R. Pitkethley. Ten teams have entered as follows: —N.Z.R. Workshops: (Machine Shop), Hoboes; (Foundry), Aces; (Apprentices) Tigers and Rovers; N.Z.R. Soccer, Ilutt Valley Soccer, Moera Stop Out Soccer, Petone Hockey Club, Rangers (privatae team), Y.M.C.A. Gymnasium.
, Results of first night's play: — Moera Stop Out 14, Petone Hockey 10; Hutt Soccer 18, Tigers 2; N.Z.R Soccer 22, Rovers 2; Y.M. 29, Rang'ers 10; Aces 12, Hoboes 11.
