SUPREME SACRIFICE
MAURICE K. F. WILSON
The sad news received from Auckland that Ordinary Seaman Maurice K. F. Wilson, third son of Mrs. D. Wilson, of Riddlers Crescent, had been accidentally drowned while on active service, came as a great shock to his many friends in Petone. Maurice, who was affectionately known as Mock, was born in, 'i'etone and was only 19 years of age Ee received his primary education at the Petone Central School and was a member-"'of the West End Tennis Club. He joined the Army 12 months ago and it was only 2 4 months ago that he transferred to the Navy and was Specialising in ■radio detection work. The passing of such a bright and promising young life is deeply legrotted. but his relatives and l'ritiiuls will have
some comfort in the fact that he did his duty nobly and well and never spared himself in well doing.
■ The funeral, which left his •late residence, was largely attended, and representatives from the Army and Navy were present. The casket, which was covered with the Union Jack was carried by six Navy men. A tribute to his memory was the large array of floral tributes and messages of sympathy received.
The sympathy of all will be extended 'to his mother and sisters, Nel'lie, Alice, Gwen, Jean, and brothers, Pete, Hay (overseas) and Jack in their time of sorrow.
