POSTWOMENS' EFFORT

<$> The work of the Lower Hutt pou'twomen, assisted by the lied Cross V.As, St. John Nursing Division and St. John Cadets, calls for the greatest praise in undertaking the work of the house-to-house col- / lection on a recent Saturday for the benefilt of the Sick and Wounded Appeal. This appeal resulted in the sum of £745, plus ,a donation of £20, in addition to several subsequent .smaller amounts.

Altoliugh these voluntary workers have not so far received any public recognition of their splendid effort, the public 'is loud in its praises of this great band of enthusiastic girls who, ,in a most pains taking way, made a blanket, coverage of the .Hutt postal district, despike the inclement weather.
