<?> . ; A 'ftIIAXD ACH.IE VEMEN T Although greatly depleted in numbers as a result of war activities, tlie Annual Report of the Waterloo, Branch of the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.AI shows a degree of "Service before Self" that must be outstanding in times like the present when so many; calls for service are being made. Under the enthusiastic leadership of Mrs. li. Seddon Hills, a group of about twenty ladies have rendered a sterling service to the Association, the community and their country as a result of the wide variety of their, activities. N For the Association the sum of over £250 was raised by means of
a bazaar, social functions, dances, and afternoons, and this money has made it possible ( for the Directors to make extensive alterations and additions to the Birch. Street property. However, this energetic band has found time to help in such appeals as Poppy Day, Free Ambulance Street Day, and other community; j undertakings, at the same time as- ! sisting in making and packing; many thousands of sterile bandages for our boys in the Fighting Forces* Alternating with the Petone L,ad-< ies Auxiliary, a regular weekly service has been provided each Sunday at Trentham Camp since the beginning of the war, at the Y.M.C.A. canteen, and the supplying of flowers for the Waiouru Camp. Apart from funds raised for the Y.M.C.A., efforts have been held to raise monies to provide for Soldiers' teas both in the Wellington Y.M.C.A and in the Hutt Valley Servidea Club. The election of officers for the year resulted in the re-election of the following ladies: president, Mrs. H. Seddon Hills; vice-presidents:; Mesdames J. W. Andrews, W. Staples, J. D. King, lion, treasurer: Mrs. Phil H. Brown, lion, secretary: Mrs; W. J. W. Munro.
