ADDRESS ON PENAL REFORM The monthly meeting of tlie Waiwhetu Methodist Men's Fellowship was held on March 30th at the residence of Mr. A. E. Thomas, Ludlam Crescent. The speaker was Mr. A. C. Barring;.on, Wellington Secretary of the Workers Educational Association, who S[joke on the topic—' 1 Punishment: Retributive? Deterrent:' or Reformative? on which does the emphasis lie in our Prison System and in what direction is a change desirable?" Mr. W. Greenwood presided over a good attendance of members and friends. At the conclusion of the discussion following the address the speaker was warmly thanked on behalf of the group by Messrs E. G. Heggie and W. Mullan.
