FIGHTING FRENCH NAVY

PATRIOTIC SUB-COMMITTEE Mrs. J. W. Andrews presided over the monthly meeting of the Patriotic sub-committee for the Fighting French Navy in the City Council Chambers. There was a very good attendance. Members were interested to hear that the 181b of navy blue Aotea wool issued from the Patriotic Society on the Bth of September had been all given out to knitters. A further issue of 121bs was received on the 28th October, making a total of 301bs of wool. A certain amount of khaki wool has also been issued for the benefit of those who cannot knit navy blue. Other garments handed in for the month included seaboot stockings, caps, scarves, balaclavas, singlets, mittens and flannel waistcoats.

Gifts of games such as playing cards, dice, dominos, etc., would be appreciated. Those willing to help in that direction please advise Madame de' Filippi, 16 Epuni Street, Lower Hutt, or Mrs. Clark, 12 Brassel Street, Lower Hutt, joint secretaries.
