FOR THE WAR EFFORT

HUTT W'OMKX ASSIST For more than three months a band ol' voluntary workers from the Hutt have rendered valuable service in the preparation of vegetables tor canning for the Armed Forces. Jn addition to several thousands of bottles of pickled onions for the canteens in the Middle Fast, many tins of beetroot, carrots, parsnips, and even turnips, have been prepared for canning'. The women have worked on a minimum of three (lays a week and the management has expressed itself as well pleased with the work that has been done. Whilst the work is not of a spectacular nature, it is none the less effective. The women have been a happy band and although many of fliem have not, worked away from their home before, fhey are pleased to be doing something useful and any unpleasant odour of onions or stain from beetroot are soon forgotten.
