W. U.S.A. St. John Ambulance- A group has been formed with Mrs. Whileman as superintendent, known as W.W.S.A. No. 2 Division Si. John Ambulance Brigade. This group meets ejvery Thursday night at 7.30 p.in in St. James's (small) Hall and .is doing excellent work studying First Aid and Home Nursing, etc. Intending members are asked to communicate w T ith the secretary of this group, Miss S. Kay, telephone 39 5. Canteen—Classes will be held each Monday night in a room at Riddiford Baths at 7.30. Arrangements have been made for Miss Rennie and Miss Filmer to give lectures on dates to be arranged, and all registrants are invited to attend. This applies to those who have already attended canteen ,-classes as well as new registrants. Members are asked to be prepared to be at their posts at the E.P.S. Try-out (Lower Hutt) to be held in the near future. Plunket Aids —Next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 28th April in Plunket Rooms, Riddiford Park at 7.45 p.m A lecture "Care of Newborn Baby" will be given by Nurse Burgess. All members are urged to attend. THY OUT It has been decided to hold another full scale try out at an undisclosed time on the afternoon of Sunday 3rd May. At the liour decided on the sirens will sound the alarm which will be the signal for the commencement of the exercises. The All Clear will be sounded 30 minutes later w r hich will be the signal for those units, such as Supplies, Accommodation, ale., w r hich do not commence operations until the alert is over, to report to their respective posts. All members of the E.P.S. should note that this is a compulsory parade and it is understood that the Controllers of the various units will be instructed to furnish a list of absentees to headquarters with a view to the taking of some disciplinary action to remind delinquents of their responsibilities. It is pleasing to be able to report that Mr. T. S. Waugh, of Park Avenue, has taken over the position of Warden for the No. 6 District, and has high hopes of everything being 1 in full working order for the try out. Mr. G. M. Maclcley has been 1 appointed supervisor of wardens 1 posts with a view to the co-ordina-tion of the work at these points and bringing them all into line as to system, etc. At the time of writing the posi- ; lion of District Warden for the No. 2 District is vacant but it is hoped that an appointment will be made at [ n.n early date. 1 The Headquarters Staff is at the 1 present, time engaged on the work ' of card indexing the whole of the enrolments. These ladies are organised into teams of four and every evening a team is at head- ' quarters carrying out this very important work. Further assistance 3 is desired in order that this job r may be completed at the earliest 3 possible moment and the help ol " any ladies who are capable of help--3 ing would be welcome during office hours at the Council Chambers. j SUPPLY UNIT 1 The Supply Unit require at least , 12 boys aged 11 to 17 years, to act 3 as runners for their unit. Boys x willing to serve in this capacity are asked to tee either Mr. E. S. Carey 170 Hi'gli Street, or M. C. W. Whileman, High Street.
