< — f COST OF l " At. last, work's meeting of tlu 1 r Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, • there was considerable discussion ' as to whether it is the responsibility 1 of the local body or the Power Board 1 to meet the cost of shrouding street lights under the restricted lighting ~ regulations. It has been the custom since the regulations came into force, for the local lighting controller. Mr. E. F. Hollands, who is also engineer general manager of " the Power Board, to instruct the board to carry out the work in the various areas under Uiy • Board's jurisdiction. The question has now arisen who shall pay for this service. Whilst k accounts have been rendered to the 1 local bodies concerned, they are advised by the solicitor to the Muni- '• cipal Association not to pay as the cost must be borne by the Power Board. Mr Andrews stated that. the f Lower Hutt City Council would be happy to meet the cost if permitted by Audit.. The audit inspector had actually .'dated that if the account was paid by council the balance sheet would be tagged. Tl was decided to refer the •matter to the Audit Department for a rul- , ing. 1 The matter does not arise in Well [j ington as the Wellington City Gouns oil controls both services.
