W.C.T.U.
The annual re union of the Lower Hutt W.C.T.I 1 , was held recently at Mrs. Lopdcll's residence, uS Waterloo Road. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Solos were given by Mrs. Spencer and readings by Mesdames LopibU and Alders'.ey; and recilalions by Mrs. Stevens. Compel ilions also were pari of the programme. Mrs. Sired, the district president, was present, and presented a long service badge to Mrs. Rout ley, who has been a member over -10 years. Mrs. Rout ley lias always taken a very keen interest in temperance work. The cradle
roll party was held on Saturday, and even though the weather was unfavourable finite a number of children and mothers were present.. The president, Mrs. Spencer, welcomed the parents and children, and spoke of the need for temperance instruction to the young people of to-day. (lames were the order of the afternoon, and the young folk thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Afternoon tea was served to all by W.C.T.r, members, and each child received a paper hat and a bag of sweets. One member kindly catered for the babies by bringing a box of toys and a large rug, so mothers did not haie to nurse the tiny tots. The district executive is to be held in Wesley Hall this week, and Lower I-lutt Union are the hostesses for that, occasion..
