BAPTIST CHURCH

I KINGSTON PARK DEVELOPMENT Favoured with a glorious sunny J afternoon, a big crowd of Wellington and Hutt Baptists gathered on Sunday for the opening of the new Sunday school hall at Kingston Park. Situated on the main High Street, a very attractive building I has been erected and should afford ideal opportunities for the residents in that area to give their children effective Sunday school facilities. * The dedication service was conducted by the president of the Wellington Auxiliary of the Baptist Union, Rev. L. A. North. The minister of the church (of which Kingston Park is a branch), Rev. E. W. Batts, introduced the Mayor (Mr. J. W. Andrews), who congratuated the members of the church on their foresight in establishing this work in the midst of an area marked out for great growth. Mr. Andrews remarked that this was the first place of worship to be erected since the borough became a city, and declared the hall open. A brief service followed, in which addresses were given by Rev. R. L. Fursden, president of the Baptist Union, and Rev. E. W. Batts. Mr. Batts outlined the future aims of the church in providing opportunities for residents to meet for worsh/p there in the very near future. At the conclusion of the service, visitors inspected the building, including the model primary. This is the picture of effectiveness, a keen group of teachers having furnished it in a most attractive manner. Many fine gifts, in addition to generous monetary support, have been made to the local Baptists, includ ing a pulpit, pulpit Bible, organ, chairs, primary equipment, lamps, | i and other furnishings. \
