DEDICATED MINUTE
THE SILENCE AT 0 P.M. In order that radio listeners may use the minute's silence at 9 p.m. to the greatest advantage, the central religious advisory committee of the National Broadcasting Service has a leaflet entitled "The Deuicatedj Minute," which has a foreword- .by Archbishop West-Watson. In this, Archbishop West-Watson states in part: "The keeping of the 9, silence does assure us that though we may be far separated yet at that time we are united in one accord and at one time with thou-' sands, and perhaps millions, of men ami women who in all humility but in' all faith lay their brethren and their cause before the God and Father of all mankind, and in doing so enter into fellowship not only with Him but with one another." Each M.P. and each clergyman, will receive a copy of the leaflet, which all booksellers are selling at' a nominal charge. The frontispiece has a striking illustration of Big Ben with its hands pointing to 9 o'clock. In the leaflet are short articles and quotations suggesting the purpose and meaning of the observance. < In a broadcast on Sunday night on "The Dedicated Minute," the Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, said: "ihe power of silence is greater than we know. It is in silence that we sense the presence of God; It is in silence that we recover that quiet mind, that courage, that dteadfastness, which alone can make us fit for the road along which God has called us. to travel." < *
