WAIWHETU TOWNSWOMEN

A special display of spring flowers was the outstanding feature of the August meeting of the Waiwhetu Townswornen's Guild. First prizes were awarded to Mesdames Brown, Spence, Williamson and Russell. A special prize for the bflat bloom, given by Mrs. Willis, was won by Mrs. McDonald, and Jtfrs. Brown gained the greatest number of points. Mrs. Peck gave a very interesting demonstration on the making of posies and shoulder sprays, and the Singing Circle contributed two items, "Greetings to Spring" and "Spsfng and Summer." Tfre patriotic convenor reported regular monthly posting of parcels to boys overseas, and gave notice of an attractive sale of work to be held in October, funds to be used for war service purposes. A parcel of Itand-knitted socks was sent to the Otaki Health Camp, and members were busy making hot water bag covers for hospital use.
