"GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN."
$ An inspiring presentation of the devotional play "Greater Love Hath No Man" took place in St. James's Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings of last week. The play incorporates many familiar verses from the Bible, and is the story of Christ's trial, crucifixion and resurrection. It was performed by members of St. James's Senior Girls' Bible Class. The "room overlooking the streets of Jerusalem," in which the action takes place, was furnished to convey the appropriate atmosphere. The actors wore the Eastern robes o! the time, and enacted their parts with a reverent simplicity which was heightened by their complete lack of stage consciousness. The programme of sacred music, which formed the first half, was sung by St. James's Church Choir, atnd included songs from Stainer's "Crucifixion." The four scenes, of the play were also interspersed with : choir and solo numbers, the climax being the triumphant "I Know that My Redeemer Liveth," sung on the Resurrection morning. f Those taking part in the play were Misses J. Noble, A Innes, B. Campbell, N. Low, J. Burridge, L. Hicks, S. Kay, R. Stamp, and J. Burr. The producers were Mrs. M. , Upton and Miss N. Collins, and Miss E. Costigan was stage ihanager. Mr. ft. Miller was in charge of lighting effects. Mr. A. V. Stamp led the , choir, with Miss B. G. G. Harte as accompanist. The choir solosits were Mesdames P. Dunkley, G. Strickland, A. V. Stamp and Soane, and Miss P. Barclay.
