W.D.F.U.

School holidays prevented many members from attending the August meeting, but nevertheless a good number assembled to hear the programme the newly-formed musical circle had arranged. Mrs. Eastwood, of the Wellington branch, sang two songs, which were much appreciated. Mrs. Lowe presented an amusing musical monologue, which was followed by pianoforte solos by Mrs. K. J. Caverhill. A humorous play entitled "A Nice iuiet Chat" caused much amusement, and was ably enacted by Mesdames Lowe, J. V. Stevens and J. B. McCallum, assisted by Mrs. W. R. Robson. Afternoon tea was served, and the president, Mrs. A. C. Stevenson, presented all the artists with shoulder sprays. Mrs. T. L. Oswin moved a hearty vote of thanks to the ladies who had contributed to the programme, which had been arranged by Mesdames E. P. Rothwell and K. J. Caverhill. Members were interested to learn that the speaker at the next meeting would be Major Lampen.
