INTER-ASSOCIATION SERIES WIN FOR WELLINGTON Six associations —Hutt Valley, Auckland, Wellington, Wanganui, "Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay—entered teams for the annual interassociation table tennis championships, which is being promoted along similar lines to the Davis Cup in lawn tennis. Absent from this series was the very strong Otago team, which last year comprised R. Algy (New Zealand champion) and M. Friend (New Zealand boys' champion).

Wellington won this year's event, which was held at the Horticultural Hall, Lower Hutt, on Saturday night, and made it two on end, being winners last year. Only three teams entered for the women'n event—Hutt Valley, Hawke's Bay, and Wellington, and Wellington also succeeded in winning this contest.

Wesley, the Hutt Valley colt, and ex-boy champion, was the most outstanding player during the elimirntion rounds, and in the final against Wellington. He beat E. Boniface and M. Gosling, present Wellington and Hutt Valley singles champion, and in earlier rounds accounted f<.r both Cheal (Auckland), ex-New Zealand champion, and P. Paton (Auckland), present North Island champion. Another young player who impressed was Miss Joyce Strange, present New Zealand and Wellington girl champion. The result of the inter-associa-tion matches are:— Men's Matches. First round: Wellington 12, Wanganui 0; Hutt Valley 11, Hawke's Bay 1; Auckland 11, Wairarapa 1. Second round: Wellington ' 11, Auckland 1; Wangnaul 8, Hawke's Bay 4; Hutt Valley 12, Wairarapa 0. Third round: Wellington 12, Hawkes .Bay 0; Wanganui 7, Wairarapa 5; Hutt Valley 11, Auckland 1. Fourth round: Wellington 8, Hutt Valley 4; Auckland 11, Wanganui 1; Wairarapa 7, Hawke's Bay 5. Women's Matches. Wellington 12, Hawke's Bay 0; Hutt Valley 7, Hawke's Bay 5; Wellington 11, Hutt Valley 1. Junior Events. Boys' teams 1 : Wellington 6, Hutt Valley fi. Junior teams: Wellington 10, Hutt Valley 2.
