'The numerous supporters and friends of the • "Hutt Valley High School Old Pupils' Association (Inc.) will be interested to hear that the annual scholarship dance is to take place in the School Assembly Hall, Woburii Road, on Friday, September sth. The committee has arrangements well in hand, and an advertisement appears in this issue.' There was a large congregation at St. James'B Church last Siinday morning, when the 11 a.m. was attended by the members'of the visiting football teams from the Wairarapa College and Dannevirke High School. The- lessons were read by Messrs. I\ S. Ransom (Hutt Valley High School) and H. A. Henderson (Dannevirke High School), , and the service conducted by the Vicar (Rev. H. E. K. Fry, M.A.), who gave an address on "playing the'game." All were called upon to play the game of Life, he said, illustrating his points with metaphors and allusions to the football field.

Oh the second Tuesday and Wednesday evening of September, a combined effort by the members of St. James's Church will take place in the Parish Hall, Woburn Road. The devotional play, "Greater Love Hath No Man" has for its setting a room overlooking the streets of Jerusalem, lor which special scenei-y has been made. The play will be preceded by a series of sacred solos, quartettes and chorus works by members of the choir.

The street collection on behalf of the Anglican Children's Homes, hV:ld on Friday, August 22nd; r resulted in the sum of £64/9/2 being received. The organiser wishes the citizens of Lower Hiitt for their generous support, and to thank also all those ladies who gave their time to act as colloctors under the unpleasant weather conditions that existed. -
