H„V. HIGH SCHOOL OLD PUPILS*
ASSOCIATION
The attractive Assembly Hall nt the Hutt Valley High School was the rendezvous of nearly 200 dancers on Saturday evening last, when the Hutt Valley High School Old PupilsAssociation (Inc.) held a dance in order to raise funds for the Old Pupils' magazine they propose to establish in order to keep in touch with old pupils who, through the war and other causes, have become scattered throughout the world. During the evening Mr. M. J. Rose, the association secretary, briefly outlined the scheme.
The stage back drape was hung with the school flag and studded with twinkling silver stars, and lovely bowls of flax and cherry blossom, pink flowering currant and camellias made the stage forefronts most attractive. Branches of bamboo and deep pink rhododendrons, arranged flower-box fashion under the windows, completed the decoration scheme.
A delicious supper of piping hot Saveloys, savouries, and sandwiches was served in two of the classrooms by members of the committee, which comprised Mr. J. B. Hepworth, president; Mr. M. J. Rose, secretary; Miss Margaret Ogilvie, social secretary; Misses Y. and J. Hunter, M. Cameron, P. Campbell, N. Huse, R. Dyer, M. Sharon, M. Clark, J. Evans, L. Pope; Messrs. J. Gillingham, B. Marchant, O. Hill, B. Lawrence, B. Whitmore, R. Hathaway, T. Ashforth, R. Stanton, N. MacFarlane and J. Wilson. Among the guests were Mr. J. S. Hunter, of the school board, and Mrs. Hunter; the principal of the school, Mr. J. N. Millard, and Mrs. Millard; and the school staff was represented by Mr. E. J.
