Plunket Society

LOWER HUTT BRANCH

The monthly ineeting <■ of the Lower Hutt Plunket Society was held last week. Mrs. J. W. Andrpws presided. Nurse Davies reported that .1701 visits had been made to the rooms during the month. The president reported that' the house-to-house collection had been entirely successful, and she wished to than- all who had assisted and those who had responded so generously to the appeal. \ Those present were: Mesdames W. H. Earnshaw, A. F. Tosswill, J. Fletcher, F. M. (president of the Taita-Knox branch), Billing, F. Lonsdale, A. A. Davies, E. G. Foster, Craighead and L. Teagle. The meeting stood for a minute in silence in respect to the memory of the late Prime Minister, Rt Hon M. J. Savage. WAIWHETU BRANCH The annual meeting of the Waiwhetu branch, of the Plunket Society was held in the Y.IvI.C.A. Hall on Wednesday afternoon, when Mrs. S. G. Mcintosh presided over a fair attendance. A report of the year's work was read by the acting secretary, Mrs. E. McLeod, and the financial statement by Mrs. A. Sanders. A vote of thanks to the honorary auditor, Mr A. J. Nichols was passed Sympathetic reference was made to the death of Mrs. C. B. Robinson, a foundation member and president of the branch for many years. Mrs. J. W. Andrews, president of the Lower Hutt Plunket Society, spoke informatively on Plunket work and advocated the formation of a mothers' club in the branch. Though the mothers generally had been helping, a club combining their interests and efforts would give unity. To further this, a mothers' meeting would be held later in the month at the residence of Mrs. J. Smith, 20 Rossiter Avenue. Mrs. F. Renner, of the Knox Mothers' Club, gave an outline of the work done there. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Mcintosh, who is retiring from office, and the incoming committee comprises Mrs. A. Sanders (president), lyirs. J. Smith (treasurer), Mrs. R. G. Dalgleish (secretary), Mrs. J. Nash and Mrs. W. Hewitt.
