With a change of date to immediately before Easter, the attendance at the meeting of the Lower Hutt of the League of Mothers wisii much below the usual. ' Those fortunate enough to fce able ;to attend spent a very happy afternoon, being entertained by "choir items conducted by Mrs. Barron and vocal solos by Mrs. Robson, Mrs. and Miss Finiay. Mrs. Grigg accompanied.
The president, Mrs. J. V*/. Artdrews, made feeling reference to the bereavements of Mrs. Macaskill, Mrs. Huttytfngs, Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. lieiap.'
The secretary, Mrs. J. D. King, in explaining the reason for the Changed' date, announced that there were oyer 1500 women present at the Centennial meetings in WeliingItf i witb patriotic work, Ml*. AiadfeWß appealed for, symsupport for the collecting that will be held from time to time, and also for. assistance at the w gross rootoe on the fourth
Thursday of every month for packing parcels to be sent overseas. Mrs, S. O. English, of Auckland, newly-elected Dominion president, addressed the meeting with words 'of wisdom and encouragement for setting out on a new calendar year, outlining the "aims and objects" of the League of Mothers and the "Rules."
In referring to Easter, Mrs. English drew an analogy between Good Friday and Easter resurrection and the victory of right over wrong with the promise of new life. Mrs. English concluded by appealing to all present to be "living" members of the League of Mothers. Mrs. H. F. Lowe moved a very 2iearty vote of thanks to the speaker, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
