QUEEN CONTEST

VICTORY FOR NORTH Miss Flora Ferretti, Queen for North, has secured pride of place in the Lower Hutt District Queen Contest, which has been held on behalf of the Municipal Band by the respective citizen committees from North, South, East and West. Miss Joy August, Eastern Queen, secured second place, with Weßt (Miss Vivienne Piatt), and South (Miss Rona Burton), third tnd , fourth respectively. Details of the number of votes recorded in favour of the candidates will be published in next week's issue. CORONATION CEREMONY AND DANCE This will take place on Saturday evening, December 2nd, in the Railway Workshops Dining Hkll, by kind permission of the workshops social committee, who have made the hall available for the occasion. Sir Alexander Roberts will perform the coronation ceremony, which will be comparatively simple, though none the less dignified. Mr. W. D. Burton, band president, will also take a prominent part In the ceremony. The crowning will be celebrated by the "Coronation Dance" on the same evening, and there is no doubt that the workshops, which is one of the popular dance halls in the Hutt Valley, will present a very gay scene on Saturday, December 2nd. Tickets for the dance are obtainable from members of the Municipal Band, members of the queen committees, or the secretary, Mr. G. Kay (phone 60-252,).
