HOME LIFE AS OASIS

IDEAL FOR WOMEN "The day returns and brings us the petty round of irritating concerns and duties —help us to perform them with laughter and a kind face—let cheerfulness abound with industry." Taking this morning prayer of R. L. Stevenson as the keynote of her address at the opening of the Methodist Ladies' Guild's annual sale of work on * riday, Mrs. J. W. Andrews urged women to take it as their daily watchword and make its prevailing tone of cheerfulness and high courage their own. So would home life be found a refreshing oases in the turmoil of life and troubled. times, and a great contribution to peace be made by women the world over. "Cheerfulness must abound in the preparation of this fair," continued Mrs. Andrews, "because such a happy atmosphere pervades the sale each year."

She voiced the regret of all present at the forthcoming departure of the Rev. H. T. Peat and Mrs. Peat, and wished them every happiness in their new sphere of service in Dunedin. On behalf of the members the Rev. Mr. Peat thanked Mrs. Andrews, who was presented with a bouquet, and tendered nis own thanks for her personal good wishes. On the low carpeted dais a lovely floral display of pink rhododendrons, azaleas, and lilies showed effectively against dark hangings.
