Boulcott Golf Club
The annual dinner and presentation of trophies for the 1939 season of the Boulcott Golf Club held recently at the Brown Owl Cabaret, over seventy members and friends .attending. After the Loyal toast had been honoured, the club president, Mr. A. J. Gearing, extended a hearty welcome to members of kindred clubs. The following toasts were honoured:! "Club Champions," proposed by Mr. N. Wright, replied to by Mr. T. Gwilliam, Senr,, Mr. I. Bowden, Jnr., and Mrs. K. O'Connell; "Donors of Trophies," proposed by Mr. Chas. Prince, replied to by Mr. W. Smith; "Winners of Dudding Shield," proposed by Mr. A. J. Gearing, replied to by the club captain, Mr. K. O'Connell; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr. F. Hunn, replied to by Mr. M. Church; and "Kindred Clubs," proposed by Mr. B. Hamer, replied to by Mr. D. Stratmore.
In presenting the trophies, Mr. A. J. Gearing congratulated the winners, and said he was proud to be club president. He also spoke
in appreciation of the fine work done by the captain (Mr. K. O'Connell), the treasurer (Mr. C. Prince) and the secretary (Mr. M. Church).
The following trophies were presented: Ladies' championship, Mrs. K. O'Connell; senior men's championship, Mr. T. GWilliam; junior men's championship, Mr. I. Bowden; president's trophy, Miss B. Snow; "Palsy" trophy, Miss B. Snow; Witcombe and Caldwell Cup, Miss A. Marshall; F. Hunn rose bowl, Miss R. Thomas; president's trophy, Mr. J. Garlick; captain's trophy, Mr. M. Church; Lees Trophy, Mr. H, Mudgway; Decorative Products Cup, Mr. J. Slade; "Red Top" Trophy, Ms. A. Webley; T. E. Lovelock Trophy, Mr. J. Garlick; ladies' mid-week club championship, Mrs. Stratmore; Mrs. Mumford's Trophy (Stableford competition), Mrs. Christie; F. Hunn's Trophy, Mrs. New! Mrs. Wright's Trophy, Mrs. Mumford.
The Dudding Shield, won by the Boulcott Golf Club team, was presented by Mr. Dudding to the club captain, Mr. K. O'Connell, at the annual field day.
Those present spent a very enjoyable evening, and general regret was expressed that the occasion marked the finish of such a happy and successful season.
