HUTT CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Hutt Bowling Club was held ou Thursday evening. Mr. J, Fletcher presided.

WOBUItN CLUB The eleventh annual meeting of the Woburn Bowling Club was held iast. week. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that the club had a membership of 73 active, one life and three honorary members. The croquet section had 24 active and eight honorary members. The club recorded its sympathy with the relatives of Messrs. G. H. Bradley and J. Taylor, two exmembers of the society. During the year th 6 bowling ' green and the croquet lawns were levelled and top-dressed_, and the surrounding kerbing lifted and the ditch made shallower, thus greatly improving the appearance of the green. The green keeper and the green committee and all who helped in the overhaul of the greens are 1 thanked for their services. ' | One Day Tournaments. — Four very successful tournaments, were lield and were a source of great pleasure to the members and fellow bowlers of other clubs who took part. Bowlers' Uniform. —It has been very pleasing to note the splendid response to the centre's instruction re playing in proper bowling costume. The appointment of an official umpire was agreed to by the committee, and Mr. J. W. Jones was appointed. Club Competitions.—The winners are:—Senior Singles: Mr. J. August. Junior Singles: Mr. N. Berry. Hounsell Cup for Beginners: Mr. F. H. Murphy. Champion Fours: R. C. Adams, M. Corkin, A, H. Overend, H. Judd (s.j. Club Fours (disc draw): A 1 Stableford, N. Berry, W. L. Williams, G. Hansen (s.). Champion Pairs: D, W. Smith, A H. Overend (s.).

Wellington Centre Competitions. Eight rinks were entered for the senior pennant competitions, and resulted in 45 per cent, of wins. For the junior pennant competition two rinks were entered, and both did exceedingly well, one rink reaching

the final game against Newtown, the winners. The club also competed in the mid-week competition, which proved most enjoyable to all who took part.

Hutt Valley Banner. —One Saturday afternoon was devoted to this competition, and we were represented by 11 rinks, which won 55 per cent, of the games played. •Closing of the Season. —The closing of the 1938-39 season took place on Saturday, April 15th. A fours competition, President v. Vicepresident, was played, and resulted in each side winning four games. During the afternoon tea adjournment a presentation was made from the bowlers to Mrs. Collins, the afternoon tea convener, for the very fine manner she had carried out her duties. Attendances. —During the season 12 committee meetings were held. The president attended 11, the vicepresident 10, Messrs. Johnston, Martin and Roberts 12, C. Cooper 11, J. W. Jones 10, N. Berry and C. J. L. Leydon 9, J. E. August 8, G. H. Bradley '4. Debentures. —Owing to the satisfactory state of the finances, the management committee decided to. pay" off debentures amounting to £60 before the end of the financial year. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. M. C. Rowe; president, Mr. W. Perkins; vice-presi-dent, Mr. Wm. Smith; hon. vicepresidents, Hon. W. Nash, Messrs. J. W. Andrews (Mayor) and W. T. Strand; hon. secretary,' Mr. H. R. Hounsell; hon. treasurer, Mr. P. Roberts; hon. auditor, Mr. A. H. Overend; delegate to centre, Mr. J. Forsyth; general management committee, Messrs. C. Cooper, G. Collins,, M. Corkin/J. Forsyth, J. W. Jones, J. L. Leydon, C. Wyatt; match committee,. .Messrs. F.... W. Ching, H. R. Hounsell and J. W. Jones.
