CLOSING TIMES FIXED

Provisions relating to the closing hours of men's hairdressers and tobacconists' shops in Petone and Lower Hutt, to take effect from September 26, were gazetted as follows last week:— All the shops in each trade shall be closed in the evening of working days as follows:—Subject to closing not later than the prescribed hour on the day observed as the statutory closing day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 9.15 p.m., with the following exceptions: (1) Should \the occupier of any shop affected observe Friday or Saturday as the statutory closing day, then the closing hour on AVednesday for such shop shall be !).15 p.m. (2) On the working day immediately preceding any of the following days: Anniversary Day, Anzac Day, King's Birthday or any other day generally observed as a public holiday; on Anniversary Day; on the working, days (other than those observed as the statutory • closing day) in the period from December 17 to January 2 of the following year, both days inclusive; and on the working days (other than the day observed as the statutory closing day) in the period from the Monday immediately preceding Easter to Easter Monday, both days inclusive, there shall be no fixed closing hour.
