LIBRARIAN ENTERTAINED

number of subscribers to the Municipal Library met in the. Council Chambers on> Tuesday evening of last week to recognise the splendid service rendered as librarian for the past nineteen years by Mrs. Burnley who recently retired from the position on superanuation. The Mayor, Mr. J. W. Andrews, thanked Mrs. Burnley on behalf of the council and the subscribers for carrying out her duties so faithfully over so many years and also referred to the valuable work she had contributed as a member of the local Red Cross Committee. He was pleased to say Mrs. Burnley would continue to wet on that committee. Ho wished her every happiness in her retirement and on behalf of the library members presented her with a well filled hand bag. On ibehalf of the council, Mr. Andrews presented Mrs. Burnley with a life membership of the library and hoped she would live long to enjoy it. Mrs. John Mitchell, on behalf of the Red Cross Society, spoke in appreciation of Mrs. Burnley's work on that committee particularly during the days of depression and thanked her for all she had done.

Mrs. Burnley said.she had enjoyed her experiences and through them had made many friends, she warmly thanked the Mayor and all those present for their kind appreciations of her services. The ranpany then entertained the guest of the evening at supper.
