DE LUXE THEATRE.

WEDNESDAY. "THE HEALER." ■ A powerful drama is brilliantly told in the Monogram, spicturisation of tie popular Robert Berrick novel, "The Healer," which comes to the De Luxe Theatre to-day, Wednesday. In an ingenious and absorbing, manner, it traces the career of an. extraordinary man through a great crisis which reaches its powerful climax with a devastating ' forest- fire. , ■ encircled pool. Ralph Bellamy plays the title role brilliantly, while Karen Morley as Evelyii and Judith Alien as the "other girl" are-also very effective. One of the highlights of- the (production, however, is the performance of Mickey Rooney as the little: cxippled boy, who idolises the doctor, and finally regains , the use of his limbs in scenes fraught • with dramatic intensity. All tho other members of the capable cast present excellent performances under the expert direction, of Reginald l Barker. The second feature is "CORONADO," starring Johnny Downs and Betty Burgess. This .picture is an excellent light musical comedy, with many unusual iftomedy 'twists, new song hits audi captivating dance numbers. The usual Wednesday Matinee will be held to-day at 2 p.m. SATURDAY. "THE UN GUARDED HOUR." •Screen entertainment filled with mystery, ■ drama, and -romance' that will appeal to young and old alike will be unfolded on Saturday next at the Be Luxe Theatre with 'the opening of Mctro-Goldwyn-Mayer's "The Unguarded Hour." Miss Young, as the wife who bares her husband's past before the world to save his life, turns in her liucst performance. Tone, in the strong role of the English ibarrister who finds himself involved j a a ghastly crime by means of circumstance, climaxes his outstanding work .in "Mutiny on the Bounty." Lewis Stone, Eoland Young, Jessie Ralph, and Dudley Digges add new laurels to their outstanding careers with their performances in the new production adroitly 'directed by Sam Wood. As if this one excellent picture were nut enough, also on the same gramme is "DESIRE." "Desire," the Paramount romantic comedy which also comes on Saturday | next to the De Luxe Theatre, brings together that ideal' team of screen lovers, Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper. It is their nrst co-starring picture sincc "Morocco." This screen couple admirably complement one another. Miss Dietiich is the creature of mystery and allure, the personality of fire and ice. Gary Cooper, her dynamic opposite, is easygoing, smiling, and refuses to let himself be hurried out of his stride in this ardent romance.
