TAITA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

The monthly meeting of the Taita I Women's Institute was held recently, j Mrs S. Craven presiding over a large attendance. Visitors were present from Rotorua and Blenheim. A sub-commit-"tee was formed to help with the Chil- ' dren Christmas Tree. PinaJ arrange'ments were made for a "500" evening Mr Jackson consented to tike charge of the potato competition. The Madrigal Circle entertained with Christmas [ carols and Hts Tait gave a very clear demonstration of cake icing. Competitions were won by Mesdames »Searle and Diamond. The hostess, Mts Jacksou, and her helfei'9 served a dainty afternoon tea and the afternoon concluded with the National Anthem. A very successful "500" evening was held recently, the winners being 'Mrs Beid and Mr Haines. "Booby" prizes were won by Mrs Cooley and Mr. Wilson, and travelling prizes by Mrs Ball and Mr Breen.
