■ ( A very enjoyable entertainment wa* given to a largo and appreciative uuIdience on Saturday afternoon, November 30, at the Baptist Hall, by t<io pupils of Miss Findlater, L.jtf.fc.M. A profusion of flowers provided a beautiful setting. The recital opened with a bright trio by three boys. This w,v: followed by duets and solos played wi'li Spirit and expression «y each performer from the eldest to the youngest, u tiny boy of 6 (Alwyn Harris) who di lighted the audience. The following pupils took partiMisses Meldrum, fiuth Loan, C&theriiic and Joan 'Macdonald, Jocelyn Perry, Ellie Boyd, Betty Gibb and lsauei Mackyj Masters John Macky, Douglas Hepworth, David Loan, Victor Okebj , John and Bill Wilson, John McArthur, Gordon Jones, and Alwyn Harris. Mrs Loan presented the certificates gained at -the recent examinations by Douglas Hepworth, David Loan, Ellie Boyd and Victor Okeby. Miss Findlater was. warmly congratulated on the musical ability displayed by her pupils. A dainty afternoon tea was then Berved to the audience and afterwards the pupils were entertained at an enjoyable party. An Bgglew Plum Pudding. When thoroughly mixed stir in one tablespoonful each of brahdy and milk, 1 lb cleaned currants, i lb each of suli tanas and crystalised cherries, i lb mixed peel (finely chopped), the grated, rind of two lemons, a little mixed spice,, 2 ozs ground almonds, and 2 ozs of finely chopped almonds. Beat long and thoroughly, then pour into a large roundcake tin, previously lined with buttered paper. Bake for four or five hours in a steady oven, then allow to stand at least four days before icing, Trait Whips. Plum puddings, even the plainest kind, and mince pines, are too rich for young children bat naturally on Christmas Day they require something festive in appearance. They will be pleased with fruit Whips, which lire simple, nourishing and attractive, Put a piece of sponge cake into a small glass, co<u'r It with ate wed fruit, or joak it with orange juice and cover with sliccd bananas Mjil mnge quarters.
