The queen carnival in coniiectii-n with the Unit Valley Y.M.C.A is gradually gaining momentum, and committees are keenly organising functions in support of their respective candidates. The contest, which is being organised in aid of the work ol the Y.M.C.A-. ami'iig the boys of the Hutt Valley, is a triangular one, the queens being: — Y.M.C.A Members' Queen: Miss Vera Burns. Y.M.C.A Ladies' Auxiliary Queen: Miss Kempt home. Sports and Industries Queen: Miss Dulcie Nicholls. As the respective groups swing in 1 o their planned idl'orls many happy evenings will be open to the valley public. Coin petit ions, street days, children s fancy dress parlies, dances, ping-pong tourneys, card parties and picture evenings give some idea of the nature of the coming attractions. It is hoped residents of the Valley will support the association so active in its work anu.'ngst the young men and boys. Following are some of Ihe planned events: — Y.M.C.A. Monday June 1 Social evening and card party, concluding with dance in Ii.S.A. lioonis, Lower Hull. 'Wednesday and Thursday. July I't and 11, picture evening in King George Theatre. CHILDKFN'S I'Aim A veiv successful children's parly wa-. held at the Unit Valley Y.M.C.A Ji a 11, Cuba Street, I'etone, on Saturday when upwards ol l'.jO children were entertained.
