WHITE BUTTERFLY COMPETITION FURTHER CONTEST ARRANGED. TAITA AND LOWER 11UTT. INCREASED PRIZE MONEY'. CO-OPERATION OF GROWERS. Following the recent highly successful competition organised by the "Hutt News" for the destruction of white butterflies, the youth of Lower Hutt and district will lie interested to know that a further contest of a similar nature has been arranged. 1 The new competition is on a larger scale than previously, the amount of the prize money being increased to £4-. The prizes are being' awarded by the Hutt \ alley Producers Association and Market (lardeners Ltd. Of the prize money £2 is to be allocated to the la it a district, and £2 to Lower Hutt. For purposes of this competition Park Avenue will be regarded as the boundary. Entrants arc asked to note the following conditions of the contest, which differ in some respects from those of the previous competition: CONDITIONS OF CONTEST. 1. For purposes of this competition the district is divided into two areas, of which Park Avenue is the dividing line. (a) Taita (north of Park Avenue); and (b) Lower Hutt (south of Park Avenue). 2. Prizes will be allocated as follows for the greatest number of white butterflies collected in each respective area: (a) Taita: Ist prize, 15/-; 2nd prize, 10/-; 3rd prize, 5/-. (b) Lower Hutt: Ist prize, 15/-; 2nd prize, 10/'; 3rd prize, 5/-. In addition there will be eight consolation prizes of 2/6 each—four for Taita and four for Lower Hutt. 3...The competition closes at the "Hutt News" Office at 6 p.m on Wednesday, March 20. 4. The dead butterflies must be enclosed in suitable packages of 500, each package being marked clearly with the number of butterflies and the name and address of the entrant. 5. Instalments of the butterflies may, if desired, be handed in to the "Hutt News" Office on any Wednesday during the course of the competition, after 3 p.m. They will not be received before that time on intervening Wednesdays.
