MUSIC IN LOCAL PARKS.

(To the Editor). (Sir,—On Friday evening whilst in High Street I stood on one side and listened to the strains of the various musical numbers being played by the Lower Hutt Municipal Band. A few yards further on the Salvation Army were also playing and singing hymns, y What a pity it is that these two thy bauds have to clasjh like this' Could not our local council arrange that these bands give a scries of concerts in the parks and reserves ou Sunday afternoons and evenings] I feel sure that something like this could be arranged now that the good weather is coming and the light nights are with us. A small printed programme with a voluntary collection to defray eosts of same would be a great help and I am sure -that the local townspeople would roll up and it would help to popularise our parks and reserves during the summer season. Hoping that some abler pen than time will * take this up and help to supply a longfelt want in our parks and reserves.— I am etc., INTERESTED.
