KNOX WINTER CLUB.

Oil Tuesday evening 12th June, the Knox Winter Clu'b celebrated a most successful Scottish Evening. Ovor a hundred people made up a most enthusiastic and appreciative gathering. Knox Schoolroom had been decked with greenery aikl heath, Scottish flags, calendars, etc. Here and there among the audience lurked searces, bows, shirt's and plaids of tartan. Proceedings ojiened with the entrance of a piper followed by members of tho Scottish Committee. Those present then joined iu a Grand March to the strains of the pipes. The musical element in the evening included community singing of "Wi' a Hundred Pipers" "Annie Laurie," and "The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond." .Soloists were Mrs Stewart who sang " Afton Water," and Mrs Nicol whose 'choice was "The Wee Cooper of Fife" in the chorus of which sho was supported by members of the committee. These songs were heartily applauded, as was a duet, "Oh Wert Thou In the Cauld Blast," sung by Mrs It. Orr and Mrs T. Waugh. The piper, Mr McCami, played two stirring solos. These musical items were interspersed with several lively games, "Twos and Throes" "Cat and Mouse," and a clay Eact on brooms. A competition of jumbled Scottish towns was won by Mr and Mrs J. Wilson. A play "For Love of Appin," the work of Air Alan Mulgan, was read. This play, Scottish in subject and with scene laid in New Zealand, was received with much enthusiasm. Four cjifb memJicr.s- dressed for the occasion in as murk tartan as could be procured, executed a Highland Fling with unusual spirit and grace (?) Mr McCann piped iu a supper consisting of S'ottish dainties. After supper a number of the company rose to join in "The llav Makers." verv jnliv evening (dosed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
