BED CROS BALL.

, The third R«d Cross Ball which was luld in the King George Theatre on Monday evening, again proved the popu larity of this annual fixture There was a largo attendance and many visitors were present from Wellington and nil parts of the Hutt Valley. Enchanting nu'isic was supplied by Bolton's famous orchestra of nine instruments and tbc extras were supplied by Miss Ivy Lewis's orchestra. The duties of M.C. wore ably carried out by Messrs N. T. G;'lespie and C. Hill. During the evening the Mayor (Mr

J. W. Andrews), expressed thanns on behalf of the Mayor's Relief Committee and the local Ked Cross fcjqciety, to all who had assisted The decorations, under the direction of Mr E. Hutt, wero entirely novel, ai'd the hall never looked more pleasiig than on Monday evening. The iligs and paper streamers of former yeais, gave way to huge leaves of tree ferns and palms, skilfully fanned round the walls, whilst in the centre of the lloor and on two large stands in the ccncrs were masses of cut flowers of golden chrysanthemums and lacopodium. A bowl of gold fish on one of the floral st.uids formed a pretty picture. From the centre of the ceiling, two high powered electric lamps covered with pink shades cast a soft and subdued light over the dancers. The stage, v.here the orchestra was placed, presented a delightful picture, harmonising in every respect with the main decorations of the hall. The background, i a woodland scene of flowering enerry trees, provided one of the prettiest efictts that have ever been seen in this hai: and the skilfully arranged lighting gave tho impression of a scone from fa:iyland. • The decorations in the supper room were carried out in the samo style as the main hall and the table dccor xtions weie done in vases of bright scarlet salvia. , , , • . • Among those present were Lady ltoLcrts, black and parchment hco; Mrs John Mitchell, wine wind swept velut, Mrs J.
