Chambers tin March 15, Mr Allistcr Edwards was appointed to I lie position ol' general secretary to the newlyformed Hull Valley Y.M.C.A. Mr. Edwards has been acting as secretary .for the boy unemployment coiumittcc at Clirisk-hurcii for the past eighteen inontlis, and Jias been prominent, as a voluntary worker at that association during the past two years. Ho has Item aelivclv ink-rested in young people's work at St. Faith's Church, New Brighton, He is an enthusiast, in athletics, having taken a keen interest, in Kugby, tennis' and cricket. Mr. Edwards will take up his duties about, the middle ol' April. Satisfaction that, the erection of the building for the V.M.C.A. on the corner of Manchester and Cuba Streets, I'efone, was going ahead well, was ex pressed by the members of the board of directors. There were present Mr \V. B. Nicholson, v.'ho presided, the Kev .J. E, Lopdell, Messrs V. A. Noble, J. 1?. Carey, H. YV. Kcrslev, H. D. Grocot-t, o'. li. Edmond, A. H. Wallace and 1?. M. Blasted. It is expected that the building will be completed in about six weeks and provisional arrangem 3nts were made for the opening ceremony which it is inteded to hold early :n May. Appreciation was expressed at the good work done by the Mayor of Pe- . tone (Mr D. McKenzi. 1 ) in helping to get the Y.M.C.A. established in the ; Hutt Valley.
