HALE— BOWIE.

A very pretty choral wedding of great interest was solemnised at the Methodist Churchy Nelson Street, Petone, between Joyce Janet/ elder daughter of Mr and Mrs C. H. Bowie, of Petone and Edward Thomas, eldest sou of Mr Joseph and. the late Mrs Hale of Stratford, by the Rev. L. 0. Honwood.

The bride, who wore a white crepe de chene and angel akin lace frock cut on simple well ntting'iines and a beautiful embroidered veil caught at the back with orange blossoms, entered the church

which was daintily decorated with arum iiliiesj spring blossoms and greenery by the bridesmaids and friends of the bride, on the arm of her father. The bride carried a sheaf bouquet of lilies, carnations and maidenhair tfern. Mrs Maud played at the organ.

The bridesmaids, Miss Olive Bowie

and Violet Scales, were attired respectively in pale green and pale rose organdi frocks made with frilled fluted panels, bustle bows, and upstanding shoulder ruffs, with picture hats of crinoline to match. Both 'maids wore crystal necklaces, the gift of the bridegroom and carried bouquets of roses and sweetpeas.

Mr John Hale, of Dargaville, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man, and Mr J«-mes Bowie, brother of the bride, as groomsman.

On leaving the church * the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe covered with white ribbon, friesias and maidenhair fern, by little Margaret Scales, who kissed the bride and bridegroom and wished them both luck.

After the, ceremony the guests were received at the home of the bride's parents by her mother, who was dressed in brown with hat to tone, carrying a bouquet of pansies and primroses. A dainty breakfast was served and toasts were proposed and responded to, after which the happy couple left for Botorua where they will spend their honeymoon, Mrs Hale wearing a grey and blue ensemble and carrying a handbag, to match.
