GIFT AFTERNOON.

There was a splendid attendance at the June"mcetig of the Lower Hutt Methodist Women's Missionary Auxiliary which, took the form of a Gift Afternoon for the Solomons. Among those present were the President of thre Union (Mrs Pacey), the ex-Presi-dent (Mrs J. F. Hills), and the Wellington branch President, Mrs Eowe. A warm welcome was extended to the visitors and also to three new imembers. , A most intwestiug leter ivvas received from Miss Olive Bott, the new assistant to Sister Eleanor Dobby, and much good has been accomplished .by her already among the Maori folk in the Hokiauga district. " Donations were handed in for the special medical fund amounting £1/10/----and the gifts received completely filled a -case •which iwill <be duly forwarded *by the depot manager. When afternoon tea had ibeeii served. Mrs Pacey addressed the meeting. She dealt particularly with the- workof the Sisters, both at home and abroad, and many interesting factswere recounted. 'The meeting gamed1 a deeper insight into 'the -wonderful1 •work that is toeing done and realized' more fully the privilege of being able to share in this work by prayer and1 giving. Several inemlbers spoko in appreciation of Mrs. Pacey's fine address and she -was presented with a lovely little poscy -by Mrs Ballantyne (president of the Hutt Auxiliary).

A very enjoyable afternoon conclud•ed with the Benediction.
