CHILDREN'S PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS BALL.

On Saturday night. 2nd August, the Community Hall, Moera, was well filled on the occasion of* the Rahdwiek School Children 5?! Fancy Dress BalQ, some -hundreds of children, in. addition to a good number of adults, being present. Excellent music was provided by Miss Worry,' Mrs Douglas and Mr. Welch. The hull was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and this was further enhanced by the. pretty dresses worn by "the 'girls, -the whole making a wonderful scene of gaiety. The -neat way in which the children carried out t-heir dancing spoke cplumes :for the untiring efforts of Mr. Werry, headmaster, and his staff, and provided an interesting spectacle for the on-look-ers. Among those present were Sir. Alexander and Lady Roberts, Mrs. W. Wash, Mesdainos Lynch and Dowse. An apology was received" from. Mr. W. !N"ash M.P. who was indisposed. The catering was in- the hands of the women members of the Randwick Parents' Association (Mesdames Dunn, Mead. ■ Gobdfollojv, Newtown, Sukroo, - and Parry), and great credit is duo to them for the, efficient .manner.; in which they carried out their duties, the children receiving special attention. The sweet stall was. controlled, by Mrs ! Hughes and family and thanks arc due \ to.them for the making and supplying of the sweets. The committee also gratefully thank the many business people in the Hutt, Petone and Moera who donated the prizes, and whose generosity greatly assisted in making the. function the success' it. was. The judges of the fancy dresses—Lady Ro* • berts, Mrs. W. Nash and Mesdames Dowse and Lynch-—were warmly applauded for the way in which they carried out their difficult task.
