HORTICULTURE

The1 monthly meeting' of the Hiutt Valley Horticultural Society was held last week. Mr. L. T. Watkins presided. A message of sympathy was extended to Mr. A. Grierson, who met with a painful accident recently. The balance-sheet for the Spring Shaw was received, showing a credit balance of £19 16s. 2d., which was considered very satisfactory. Arrangements for the Summer Show were discussed. It was decided to keep the show open continuously from 2 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. It was also decided to extend an invitation to the party of blind boys and ifriends from Auckland, who will be spending the day in Riddif ord Park, Lower Hutt, on 21st November. . * Mr. T. M. Wilford has consented to open the Summer Show. The committee, it was stated, wore very pleased with the interest taken by members and exhibitors in the shows and in horticulture generally."
