USE OF RIDDIFORD BATHS

The policy of allowing children the free use of the Riddifoxd Baths was a question before the Lower Hutt Borough Council on Monday. The policy last season was to charge £1 for each class of 50 school children.

In response to a request from the local 'headmasters the Baths -Committee •brought down a recommendation that the baths should be frefe to classes of 100 children with a teae-her for each 50 and that there be not more than 20 ot 25 non-swimmers.

The Mayor moved that the report be referred back in order that a charge should be> made. The free policy was a wrong one, a small charge should be made so that the idea -of recognising the value of the service rendered should be encouraged. The- tendency of the! present day for free service was encouraging wrong ideas. The motion, however, lapsed for want of a seconder and the report was adopted.
