LOCAL AND GENERAL.
The following information is supplied by Mr. C. B. Robinson of Whites Line:— The official rainfall for the month of October was 753 points on 15 days. The A rainfall on the last two days of October > and Ist November was just under 5£ inches.
. Speaking at the opening ceremony of Shopping Week on Thursday, Mr. J. M. .Power remarked that his' Association considered itself very fortunate to hive the Mayor present at the gathering as ke J understood Mr. Strand was the only Mayor in the world who had put the rates up in his town and had not been publicly assassinated.
On Armistice Day the Territorials parading at ; Parliamentary Buildings were inspected by the Prime Minister (Hon. Gordon Coates), and Major Justin M. Power (commanding officer Central Depot N.Z.A.S.C), was complimented by him upon the smart turn out of his unit.
The parishioners of St. James's Church are reminded to forward their special envelopes to the secretary, Box 19, by Friday, 16th November.
