HUTT VALLEY AND DISTRICT
EDUCATION MATTERS.
At the meeting on Wednesday of the Education Board the appointment of Mrs I .B. Can to the charge of the WMteman's Valley School was confirmed, and a tender for additions to> the residence of that school was accepted. An expenditure for window blinds in the upper school of Petone Central was authorised, and-'it was decided to enter into negotiations for thepurchase of 3i acres for the Taita School, heretofore leased, and to recommend for that school increased room and shelter shed, accommodation. An intimation from the Department -that the authorization of a grant for replacement of shelter she'd had been deferred evoked a protest from the Board, -which is to be sent on to the Department, aswell as further representation for better provision for special, classes. The Board also decided to apply to the Department foT a teacher's room, and the erection of a dental clinic at Upper Hutt. The questions of site extensions at Epuni and Muritai Schools were considered and it was agreed to urge on the Department the immediate purchase of suitable areas in these localities. A-grant for the installation of electric light at * the Hutt Central School was authorised.
