On Sunday afternoon a large number of people made their way to the new Hutt bridge and walked across the big structure. It is expected that the work will be completed in the course of a few weeks. It would be interesting to know the exact number of cars which passed along the Hutt Road on Monday. One enthusiast while coming out from Wellington in the bus which left Lambton at 5.24 p.m. counted 431 cars between Thorndon and Petone station.
It is observed that a number of new slot telephones are being erected in various parts of the district —one in Victoria street, and one at the comer of White's Line and Ludlam Crescent. In our issue of the 10th inst,, reviewing the Hutt Valley Dramatic and Operatic Society's production of "Cupid and the Orge, '' we expressed the opinion that the performance merited repeating in the near future and we are pleased to be able to announce that the Society, after receiving many requests, has decided to stage this musical comedy for one more night, particulars of which, will be found in our advertising columns. We feel perfectly justified in recommending this performance as worthy of our best support.
