WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.
A meeting of the W.C.T.U. waa held last week, the President presiding. There were 24 members present and two visiI tors. Mrs Lopdell led the devotional exercises, after which the Pledge was rei peated by all members. The President then read *f Reasons why Everyone should abstain from alcoholic liquors. f * Three home meetings have been held during the month, resulting in four new members, making a total of 17 new members since last meeting. Through the efforts of Miss MeLay,the organiser, a new Union has been formed at Moera, with a start of 12 members. Also four new cradle roll members from Taita. An appeal was read from the "Willard Home, and it was decided to send the usual parcels and donations near Xmas. Mrs. Every, from Greytown, gave a short address on personal work and influ- . enee, and urged all present to each get someone else on the side of Temperance, and do their best to influence all duringthe coming election.
