FREE KINDERGARTEN.

The monthly meeting of the Lower Hutt Free Kindergarten Association was held in the Moera Hall and was presided ove- by Mr. H. M. May. A letter was received from Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson, signifying her willingness to officially open the Kindergarten on Saturday, October 27th. On September Ist a dance was held in the Moera Hall, the proceeds being in aid of the Kindergarten Fund. The committee wish, to thank the Waiwhetu Parents' Association for the use of the hall on what was ordinarily their dance night, and all those who helped to make the function such a success. They wish also to thank the following for donations of provisions:—Mrs Riddler, Messrs Cak-y. Elbe, Martin, Malm, A. Thomas, Alexander and Davies.
