GRAND CONCERT.

On Monday, September 10th at. the Moera Hall, the Petone Black and White Entertainers gave a very fine concert in aid of the Waiwhetu Parents' Association. The programme opened with, a miniature concert by the company, fol- ! lowed by a song ' ' Me and My Shadow,'' by Mr. Boyd with the ballet dressed, in black and white. Jackie Harris song "Beneath Thy Window," to a mandolin accompaniment, and as an. encore gave a step dance. A sketch " 'Amy and Liza" by Mr. Rowe and Miss Leadbetter was followed by Miss J.oan Craig in '' Powder Puff.'' This dainty young lady who is only 11 years old was dressed as a big white powder pug. The next item was a humourous song, ''Mother's Baby Boy by Mr. Ted Adams. Mr. Rowe contributed three musical monologues, the last of which was that thrilling epic "The Pig Tail of Li Fang Foo," with realistic stage effects. A humourous recitation by Miss X. Rowe preceeded two songs by the Maori boys, Bob and Johnny. The concluding items of the first part wan '' Breeze rendered by Miss Keating and company. JThe first number was a very pretty swing song, followed by a part song '' Sleepy Time Girl." Other items were: "The Doll Dance," by Mr. Rowe and Miss Sharlow, a song '< Old Fashioned Town,'' and a Sailor's Horn Pipe by Jackie Harris, songs by the Maori Boys, a sketch "The Lady Sport" by Mr. Rowe and Miss Leadbetter, and song and step dance by Joan Craig, who was presented with a bouquet by Miss Scott. The sketch "Which/ by Miss Leadbetter, Mt Parks, and Mr. Boyd, was much enjoyed, being in parts indescribably funny. The closing item was " In a little Spanish Town," rendered by the company. During the evening a vote of thanhs was passed to the Entertainers for their splendid concert, and the prizes for ticket selling, presented by the Entertainers and the Parents' Association, was won by Master G. Parkinson and Miss B. Hoare, were presented.
